Welcome to our wedding!
We are so excited to celebrate with you. As you already know, we are having a private ceremony (immediate family and wedding party only) on May 29th at the Lower Shelter in Brown County State Park and plan to stay for the surrounding week (May 27th - June 2nd) at a collection of suites nearby (see here for more details). Wedding party is expected to arrive on the first day, and family on the second (for the rehearsal, dinner, and set-up).
The rest of the week is explained in our schedule page, and we hope you can join for as much of the week as possible. Information for how to RSVP will be sent in the wedding invitations.
Falling in Love at a Coffee Shop
We met in 2019 at Inkwell Cafe and Bakery in Bloomington, Indiana, while Becca was completing her masters degree and Jacob was working as a barista. Becca drank her coffee too slowly and Jacob started teasing her about it, offering her free refills so that her coffee didn't get cold. She started tipping him the same amount the coffee costed, and a mutually beneficial embezzling relationship began. Jacob wrote his number down on a receipt (he just corrected her – it wasn't on a receipt, it was on receipt paper) and suggested that they have a real conversation at "your second favorite coffee shop." Becca thought, "Oh no. This guy is probably way too smooth for me." How wrong she was! ;)
Over the last 7 years, they found themselves growing closer and closer while moving farther and farther away from their Indiana roots. They weathered a pandemic, a move to Philadelphia for two years, Berlin (and Romania) for one, and now live in England. During that time, Becca earned a PhD and Jacob taught himself programming and became a software engineer. As Becca wrote in her dissertation acknowledgements, "No grand gesture could ever be made to measure you." But a week-long wedding celebration does seem like a pretty good way to come close.
